Head of Creative — Backcountry

Leadership challenged me to trim our content budget — a cut that would have seriously limited our ability to keep producing films. So I revised the approach entirely: instead of Backcountry funding our films out of pocket, I built a content sponsorships program that brings partners in to bring the stories to life.

From Cost Center to Revenue Driver

The model is simple: our films inspire outdoor pursuits, and the brands our customers already love want to be part of those stories. Sponsors now underwrite the productions — covering our hard costs and keeping a stream of premium films and shorts in the pipeline. The channel that was headed for the chopping block became an incremental revenue driver instead, bringing in half a million dollars in its first year alone.
